Privacy notice
Last updated 11 October 2026
I keep this simple: no ads, no cookies, no selling anything. The only things I collect are anonymous visit statistics and, if you use “Ask about Raj”, the questions you type.
In short
- Visit statistics come from Plausible, a cookie-free analytics tool. It doesn't identify you.
- Ask about Raj sends your question to an AI service (Anthropic, USA) to write an answer. I log questions and answers for up to 12 months to improve the assistant and run it safely. Please don't type personal details.
- I set no cookies. Your browser stores a few small settings on your own device.
- You can ask me to see or delete your data, and you can complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency.
Who is responsible
The data controller is Raj Kaul, an individual based in Denmark. For anything privacy-related, email raj.kaul.design@gmail.com.
What I collect, why, and for how long
1. Visit statistics (Plausible Analytics)
This site uses Plausible, a privacy-focused analytics service run by Plausible Insights OÜ in Estonia (EU). It counts page views, referrers, country, browser and device type. According to Plausible, it sets no cookies, does not track you across sites and does not store your IP address or build a profile of you. I only see combined statistics.
Why: to understand which pages are useful and fix what isn't (legitimate interest, Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can object at any time; a browser tracker blocker also stops it.
2. “Ask about Raj” questions and answers
When you send a question to the assistant, I process and store:
- your question and the assistant's answer, with the time;
- a random chat ID, so replies in one conversation can be grouped;
- a short anonymous visitor code: a one-way scrambled version of your IP address mixed with the month. I can't turn it back into your IP address, and it changes every month. I still treat it as personal data;
- whether the request worked.
Why: to answer you (a service you asked for, Article 6(1)(b)), and to read the log so I can improve the assistant, spot misuse and keep costs under control (legitimate interest, Article 6(1)(f)). I don't use the log to identify or contact you.
How long: up to 12 months, then automatically deleted. Only I can read the log.
3. Daily question limit
To stop abuse, each visitor can ask 5 questions a day. To count this I keep a small counter linked to the anonymous visitor code above. Counters are deleted after about two days. (Legitimate interest, Article 6(1)(f).)
4. Your browser's own storage
This site saves a few items in your browser, on your device only. I can't see them:
theme: your light or dark choice;askRaj:v1: your recent chat, so it's still there if you reload (the “Clear” button deletes it);askRaj:seen: remembers that you've opened the chat, so the button stops animating.
These are not tracking cookies. They exist only to make the features you use work, so no consent banner is needed. You can delete them any time in your browser settings.
5. Hosting logs
Like any website, my web host's servers automatically record technical data such as your IP address, the page requested and the time, for security and troubleshooting. My hosting provider is Namecheap, Inc. (USA). It keeps these logs for a short period under its own policy. (Legitimate interest, Article 6(1)(f).)
6. If you email me
I'll use your email address and message only to reply and keep a record of the conversation. My mailbox is provided by Google. I delete conversations when they're no longer needed.
About the AI assistant
- The assistant is an AI. It answers only from a text I wrote about myself, and it can still be wrong. For anything important, email me.
- Your question and the recent messages in your chat are sent to Anthropic, PBC (USA) through its API so it can write the answer. Please don't include names, contact details, health information or other sensitive data.
- Anthropic acts on my behalf as a service provider. Under its commercial terms, API data is not used to train its models by default and is kept for a limited time for safety and operations.
- It makes no decisions about you and has no legal or similar effect on you.
Who else receives data
- Plausible Insights OÜ (Estonia): visit statistics.
- Anthropic, PBC (USA): your questions to the assistant.
- Namecheap, Inc. (USA): hosting and server logs.
- Google: my email, if you write to me.
I don't sell your data or share it for advertising.
Transfers outside the EU/EEA
Anthropic and Namecheap are based in the USA. Transfers rely on the safeguards in their data processing terms, such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. You can ask me for details.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask me to:
- tell you what data I hold about you and give you a copy;
- correct it, or delete it;
- restrict how I use it, or give it to you in a portable format;
- stop processing that relies on legitimate interest (you can object at any time).
Email raj.kaul.design@gmail.com. Because the question log is anonymous, tell me roughly when you used the assistant and what you asked, so I can find it. I'll reply within one month. You can also delete your own copy of the chat with the “Clear” button.
You have the right to complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency (Datatilsynet), datatilsynet.dk, or to your local data protection authority.
Other things
- You don't have to use the assistant, and you can use the rest of the site without giving me any personal data.
- This site isn't aimed at children under 16.
- Links to other sites (LinkedIn, Instagram, GitHub, Kickstarter) are covered by those sites' own policies.
- I'll update this notice if anything changes, and show the date at the top.
